LibDems sell out on a principle – who’d have thought it?

Bypass Posted on Wed, February 05, 2014 19:57

“Executive Summary

Liberal Democrats believe that the transport system should empower individuals to make sustainable choices about the way in which they live, whilst offering modern, affordable, accessible and reliable means of travelling around Britain.

This paper addresses the key challenges facing transport in 21st century Britain: those of reducing carbon emissions and increasing capacity. It seeks to price behaviour according to its impact on the environment, whilst creating real sustainable alternatives for passengers through a step change in the provision and performance of public transport.

Liberal Democrats will aim for a carbon-neutral Britain by 2050: this paper empowers both the transport system and individuals to reduce emissions, whilst ensuring there is fair access to an improved transport system for all. “

They sold out those heartfelt principles to buy a few votes with the Cheadle Constituency Link Road for votes.

Mark Hunter MP has to converse with Cheshire East Council through Stockport Express

Bypass Posted on Wed, February 05, 2014 18:50

“I am concerned that Cheshire East has not yet given planning permission. It is disappointing that they took it off their planning agenda for January…I am not sure what they are playing at. I have spoken to Mr Osborne and asked him to give them a nudge to get things moving forward and get their finger out…”

All is obviously not well in LibDem road-creation-land.

LibDem hypocricy over roadbuilding – surely not!

This is LibDem official transport policy. No mention that I can find in it regarding multi-billion pound roadbuilding schemes for votes.

LibDems hell bent on building through important floodplains

This is the position of the Environment Agency:-

Growth for growth’s sake

As someone cleverer than I am pointed out:-

“In their own words they admit there is actually no demand for the Airport City
development. So the entire scheme is growth for growths sake, rather than
development because it is needed.”

Moving the pollution

Bypass Posted on Sun, February 02, 2014 09:19

As someone clever has pointed out the Stockport powers-that-be say:-

‘we are moving traffic from the urban areas to the countryside where no one
lives’.

The Air Quality Directive would actually prevent this happening because it measures
pollution at the source whereever the public has access. It is also protecting
drivers and passengers on the road itself. Pollution peaks during rush hour so
you may live ‘in the country’ but still be exposed to high pollution during your
commute.

Stunell is such an idiot

Bypass Posted on Sun, February 02, 2014 09:16

Stunell says –

Hazel Grove deserves the bypass to get rid of the congestion at long last and can
become a proper shopping centre.

As someone cleverer than I am pointed out:-

“Who is he kidding? With all the new out of
town retail units that they already have planned alongside the new road, who is
going stop to shop in Hazel Grove?”

LibDems indebting Stockport with their loony plans for £1 billion bypass

Bypass Posted on Sat, February 01, 2014 18:35

Loony LibDems (officially against all roadbuilding) intend to carry on with their pork barrel politics getting a £1 billion road for LibDem votes through several important floodplains and putting the Borough in debt for even longer than the 60 years which is currently the case for phase 1 of this airport road.
