Dear Ms Naven
Virtually every roadbuilding scheme over the past 10 years + has gone massively overbudget (evidence available on request). The Council has stated to me in a FOI response that it would be liable for cost overruns.
Please may I see the risk strategy for dealing with this potential problem. I see that already the quoted figure of £48 million in compensation costs will have risen to £69 million in the next 7 years, as per your recent FOI response. This road, through Poynton I might add, has the potential to bankrupt Stockport Council.
I look forward to your response, hopefully without having to waste the time of the Information Commission, as would seem to normally be the case to get any answers at all.
Kind regards
Sheila

Dear Ms Naven
Many thanks, so as I understand it – and please correct me if I am wrong – in 7 years another circa £20 million above what is budgeted for will need to be found for land compensation/purchase for the A555? For a road not even in Stockport? I can’t see this going down well with the council taxpayers.
I look foward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Sheila
