There was a wide ranging discussion on the way ahead and the following points/actions were noted.
- There is a need to produce a new Major Scheme Business Case (MSBC) for the A6 to Airport Scheme : This can use existing work as a basis but will need significant additional work.
- Individual elements of the MSBC can be submitted as they are completed to speed up the approval process.
- The desired timescale to submit a MSBC and obtain programme entry is within nine months.
- Need to discuss inflation assumptions with DfT when reconfirming cost assumptions
- Modelling is a key issue. They need a 5-10 page paper scoping out proposed future work on modelling and current state of model. Once the paper is submitted there needs to be a meeting on modelling to agree the way ahead.
- The local authorities need to talk with the Highways Agency re property held by them and route protection. We need to ask for an updated land valuation. Separately DfT needs to meet with them re land cost issues and then all need to meet together.
- MSBC options confirmed strategic route approach for attentive scenario
- Economic work – little more is required except it all needs updating.
