Mr Parnell had tried to get his legal entitlement to help for his adopted daughters for a decade before he decided to stand on the town hall steps until someone from the council helped him. No-one did.

Mr Parnell – the police and the courts have admitted – was a completely innocent man.

His useless local MP Andrew Stunell advised him to stay away from the town hall (presumably to be ignored for another decade) because his presence “seems to be a red rag to a bull as far as they are concerned”.

Well, it shouldn’t have been like a red rag to a bull. He had a legal entitlement to help, he had asked for a decade without success and they were paid to help him.

Is there a more ineffectual MP than Andrew Stunell anywhere?
