Questions for Executive Council Meeting 17/12

My questions for the meeting

1) Councillor Derbyshire said in a filmed full council meeting that she would not give contracts to firms involved with the blacklisting scandal, yet the roadscheme contract has been awarded to Carillion. Could she please explain why she reneged on this commitment?

2) I asked about the dangerous traffic situation around the toxic waste dump school, mentioning that Councillor Alexander had herself killed someone in a road accident, so it seemed a tad hypocritical of her to brand me vexatious for raising the matter. I was informed that the question couldn’t be asked of her. I asked what rule forbade her from answering such a question but I have not yet had the courtesey of an explanation for this refusal. Could you please enlighten me as to why that question was not allowed to be put to Councillor Alexander?

Kind regards

Sheila

Tendering Evaluation Process

How on earth did blacklisting firm Carillion win the tender for the Cheadle Constituency Link Road for votes, when SMBC Council Leader said she would not give contracts to blacklisting firms? I shall update with the response, should it not been deemed “vexatious” to ask.

Dear FoI Officer, SMBC
Please let me have all details of the Tendering Evaluation Process for the M56 to A6 roadscheme.

Many thanks

Alice through the Broken Glass

Anwar Majothi Posted on Sun, December 15, 2013 08:38

This elderly lady was brought home early from her daycare centre by Stockport Council funded community transport. It is alleged that there was an important football match on that day and that the driver wanted to drop her off before the agreed time.

When there was no-one home at the arranged time, although the carer was almost home unbeknownst to the driver, he smashed a glass panel to gain entry and left a vulnerable lady in her 90s and who suffered from dementia alone in the midst of all this broken glass.

Mark Hunter as MP and Council Leader refused to take any action against the driver. So much for safeguarding vulnerable adults at Stockport Council, and as with Mr Parnell and the corruption with Vale View School Project, it is impossible to complain against Stockport Council no matter how hard you try.

Road for votes compulsory purchase process

They are compulsory purchasing land for the “Cheadle Constituency Link Road” for votes and shutting side roads, even though this roadscheme is likely to fail at public inquiry. More public money thrown away on this LibDem vanity project!

If you have a valid reason to object, then the link above might be of assistance to you.

North Reddish Primary School Posted on Sun, December 15, 2013 07:59

Text of a letter sent by a local resident to this week’s Stockport Express:-

“Thank you, Stockport Express, for revealing the latest twist in the saga of North Reddish School. Local esidents were appalled in September when we discovered that the school had been sold by Stockport Council at a knock-down price of £205k to a group of Birmingham businessmen.

The council was reluctant to reveal this to local residents even though details of the sale appeared on the Land Registry in July and were therefore a matter of public record. Now we are even more appalled to learn that the same group of businessmen plan to sell the buildings on at a potential profif of £500,000. Mr Hussein and his colleagues must be delighted at the possibility of making such a large profit for so little effort.

Is this state of affairs incompetence on the part of Stockport Council or naivety due to the bubble of secrecy they like to operate in? Perhaps Executive Councillor Mark Weldon, Barry Khan, the director of finance and Murray Carr, the head of property services should all go back to school. I understand that Stockport Council has sold another building to the same group of businessmen. Now I wonder that that went for.”

My addition comment to this excellent letter is that Excecutive Councillor Mark Weldon, Council Soliticitor Barry Khan were both involved with a multi million pound offence under the Fraud Act 2006 in deliberately building the Vale View School too small deliberately causing a large loss to the council taxpayers, which is an illegal act.
