Illegally applying political pressure on councillors to put primary school on still gassing former toxic waste dump

Vale View School Posted on Sat, April 25, 2015 18:26

No councillor should have political pressure put upon them to pass planning applications, not least to put a new primary school on a still gassing former toxic waste dump.

Council knew primary school site was an old tip, so why no contamination investigations initially?

Dear Mrs
Oliver,

Environmental
Information/Freedom of Information – PPS 23

I refer to your request
for information detailed below.

The quoted reference
from PPS 23 provides guidance, but it is not mandatory. The Council was aware
from its own records that the site had a history of waste disposal and therefore
commissioned GMGU to consider the contamination issues on its behalf prior to
making a planning application. The Environmental Health Officer was party to
this commission. The work by GMGU has identified the constraints and remedial
measures to ensure the safety of the site for the proposed development. The
screening application for the development resulted in a decision that an EIA was
not necessary.

The planning
application was submitted with the supporting information regarding
contamination (the site investigation) and the Environmental Health Officer was
consulted on the application and has made no adverse comments. The consultation
with the Environment Agency has taken place as part of the on-going processing
of the application and discussions are continuing to address their concerns.

If you are
unhappy with our response or the way we have handled your request you are
entitled to ask us to conduct an internal review. Any internal review will be

Dirty Tricks Lisa Smart, LibDem PPC

Lisa Smart LibDem PPC Posted on Fri, April 24, 2015 19:52

Dirty tactics’ accusations after email from councillor who quit Labour party circulated to residents.

Labour has accused the Lib Dems of ‘dirty tactics’ after an email from an independent councillor who defected from Ed Miliband’s party was circulated to voters.

Stockport Councillor Laura Booth, who quit Labour last year after claims of ‘bullying’, is backing Lib Dem Lisa Smart for the Hazel Grove parliamentary seat.

Residents have now received the letter and email after it was circulated by the Lib Dems.

Coun Booth sits in the town hall as an independent after dropping her bid to become Labour’s MP for Hazel Grove next month when she left the party.

But Labour members, including General Election candidate Michael Taylor, have blasted her for ‘misleading’ residents, claiming her email deliberately ‘confuses’ voters into thinking a Labour councillor is backing a Lib Dem – and that the party has given up in Hazel Grove.

The email states: “This is the hardest email I’ve ever had to write. I’ve been a life-long supporter of the Labour movement.

“I was selected a year and a half ago to represent the Labour Party as our potential MP. But for the first time in my life I will not be voting Labour at the elections on May 7. I’ll be backing Lisa Smart to be our MP.

“It really is a two-horse race in our constituency, Labour are out of the race and can’t win here.”

Labour’s general election candidate for Hazel Grove, Michael Taylor

Mr Taylor said: “No Labour member is saying ‘vote for the Lib Dems’. This is just an independent councillor who sits with the Lib Dems, endorsing them.

“There isn’t a single Labour person in the Hazel Grove constituency who is backing the Lib Dem candidate; quite the reverse. The email is deliberately confusing and malicious and designed to confuse voters into thinking the Labour candidate has given up.

“Laura Booth left the Labour party last September – nowhere does she say that. We have evidence of people who have been misled and are angry about this.”

Ms Smart, who is hoping to keep the seat for the Lib Dems, said: “Hazel Grove has always been a clear fight between the Lib Dems and the Conservatives and all polls suggest it is neck-and-neck this time.

“More and more Labour supporters are backing me to win this time and I’m delighted that Laura is one of them.”

Mr Taylor added: “The reverse is true. If more and more Labour supporters are migrating to the Lib Dems, why do they have to pretend this independent councillor is a Labour member? She’s a Lib Dem in all but name.”

Coun Booth was unavailable for comment.

The current LibDem bypass fiasco in a nutshell

Bypass Posted on Thu, April 23, 2015 06:31

Who on earth allowed corrupt and incompetent Stockport LibDems to be in charge of a £350m project?

Mitigation measures must be in place before bypass for votes is opened, but the mitigation is impossible.

Bypass Posted on Wed, April 22, 2015 20:05

How will the bent Stockport LibDems sort out the insoluble traffic problems their road for votes will cause in High Lane/Disley, which they will have to do before the road opens. It can’t be sorted out. Does the corrupt LibDem road for votes remain shut then after £350m plus of public money has been spent on it?

Email received – 21 April 2015 17:37 from the Common Purpose Chief Executive of Stockport Council, Eamonn Boylan.

Dear Ms XXXX

In response to your email of 15
April and with reference to the earlier correspondence sent to Mr David Rutley
dated 2nd April 2015, the contractor continues to work in accordance with the
various species specific ecological mitigation strategies which form part of the
approved planning permission from the three local authorities. The project team
is aware of the designation of Ladybrook Valley Interest Trail and Ancient
Woodland. To bring you up to date, as of 15th April the contractor’s ecologists
had identified and marked out 4 locations where nesting birds are evident and
the appropriate processes were followed and will continue to be in line with the
work systems referenced in the correspondence to Mr David
Rutley.

On the issue of mitigation
measures to reduce the impact of the scheme on Disley it is important to be
clear that a fully funded package of mitigation measures must be designed (in
agreement with the Local Planning Authority) and implemented prior to the
opening of the new road. This is a clear requirement of the Planning Approvals
granted for the scheme.

Cheshire East Council has
already commenced feasibility studies and initial consultation with Disley
Parish Council on proposals relating to mitigation measures in Disley,
specifically in relation to the requirements of this planning condition. The
mitigation measures for Disley will be developed through the feasibility and
consultation activities being progressed by Cheshire East Council and once
agreed and planning approval granted by Cheshire East Council LPA the measures
will be implemented prior to road opening which is programmed for October
2017.

Detailed assessments of impacts
on air quality have been undertaken and have concluded that the project will not
impact negatively on the ability of the UK to comply with the EU directives on
air quality. For the avoidance of doubt the estimated rise in the level of
traffic on the A6 at Disley is not 30%, but between 11 and
16%

I hope this is
helpful

Regards

Has Dodgy LibDem Danny Alexander been at it again?

Bypass Posted on Mon, April 20, 2015 19:07

After agreeing to a £350million LibDem vote-winning road when there wasn’t even a business case in place:

http://www.bettertransport.org.uk/sites/default/files/funding-for-manchester-road.pdf

I asked the Treasury for documents pertaining to Danny Alexander’s further decision to spend £350,000 on a pre-election boost for his political cohorts at Stockport to look into extending the road further. As it is the £350m A6 MARR roadscheme – or Cheadle Constituency Link Road as the LibDems refer to it – won’t solve the traffic problems in the area – not at High Lane, not on the A6 at Hazel Grove, not at Bredbury, not at Dan Bank.

HM Treasury have asked for an extension before they respond with documents relating to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury spending further huge amounts of my money to shore up votes for his political cohorts.

LibDems – could they, should they run a whelk stand?
